Today members of Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Kericho Chapter officially launched one week civic education on human rights to be held in Kericho town.

During the training the legal officers will skip their duties to over tribute to the fallen fellow learned friend who was murdered with his client.

The South Rift LSK chair Erastus Orina told press that they have agreed with the bench to omit them from duties for a week.

“In remembrance of our colleague who died in line of duty, we have sacrificed our time to do civic education for a period of one week and we have agreed with the bench to omit us from duties” he said.
Orina who works at Kericho high Court said the time for extra-judicial killings was over and there was need to educate public on their constitutional rights.

The event was officially opened by Kericho County Assembly Speaker Japhet Mutai who urged the residents to present their injustices to the team during the exercise.

“We are aware of several injustices ranging from land issues, harassment, trespass, malicious and prosecution come to us here and you will be helped” he said.

Mutai said the police are expected to protect the public instead of killing them.
