KAMUREN STANDS THE ONLY KALENJIN NAKURU WOMEN REP HOPEFUL

Kenya is headed to a historical General election next year after Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto merged their parties to form an Umbrella party called Jubilee.
Nakuru is dominated by two Communities Agikuyu and Kalenjin where the larger Community is last year secured all the County’s elective positions which includes; governor, Senator and Women rep.
2017, presents a different hope for other communities owing to the fact that nomination for all the aspirants is done once.
Women rep position has attracted eight contestants where the rest hail from one community except determined Gladys Kamuren who on top of her chances, has a vision for the county.

  Speaking exclusively to us at a hotel in Nakuru town the experienced social worker says she already has possible donors to bring more projects to benefit to women.
“I am not contesting for self gain but my aim is to see poor women being empowered to be able to raise their families” she said.
Kamuren who has once supported women groups for more than ten years in North Eastern says the Affirmative Action funds is not enough to count on.
“ As a duly elected Women rep, you are entitled to source more funds to help our women across the county to start income-generating activities” she said.
Kamuren said, Kuresoi and Molo, Rongai, Njoro and upper part of Nakuru are different climatically hence potential of thriving different economic activities and so she has planned suiting the regions to initiate activities.
The projects include, horticultural farming, poultry, livestock production and businesses for women living in towns.

 The young and energetic Kamuren hails from a family of proven leaders is currently doing civic education in various parts of the county to empower women.
“There is need to elect leaders whose hearts are mindful for the problems facing the electorate, I have been to all corners of the county and realized that many people have been neglected and they do not understand their rights nor the role of leaders” she said.
She has a strategic plan which is all –inclusive and involves locals’ input on the use of government funds allocated to women reps to ensure right priorities are made.
The humble-looking lady has been embraced all over the county by both young and old who have given her a go-ahead to contest for the seat.
She has also been working closely with all regions’ leaders who have seen leadership in her.
“She is a real leader that needs support. She is learned and concern and so we should help her win the seat” a leader who sought anonymity said.
She has Degree in Psychology and Diploma in Social Work and Community Development.
